Wayne for All Ages Resource Center

Mayor Vergano is proud to announce the grand opening of the new Wayne for All Ages Resource Center on Oct. 3 at 10am in the Clubhouse at Captain Kilroy Park.

Mayor Vergano is pleased to announce additional Wayne for All Ages Programs and Services:

FREE Medicare Education Seminar, Presented by Christian Sees — Tuesdays, April 2, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Wayne Public Library’s Meeting Room A.
Light Refreshments will be available. In addition, free blood pressure screenings will be provided. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is preferred. Call 973-694-1800 ext. 3281.

Free Creative Journaling Workshop — “Golden Reflections” — facilitated by Caldwell University Nursing Students — Thursday, April 4, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Wayne for All Ages Resource Center (Captain Kilroy/Tom’s Lake Clubhouse), 7 Concord Place, Wayne. During this free workshop, the nursing students will give participants new journals to design and creative writing prompts to reflect on. Call the Wayne for All Ages office at 973-694-1800 ext. 3281 to reserve your spot. Space is limited, and PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Wayne for All Ages is pleased to offer the SPRING INTO HEALTHY HABITS SERIES,
including the following events:

Wayne for All Ages Wellness Event – April 16, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Wayne for All Ages Resource Center. The following free services will be provided: Blood Pressure Screenings; Dietitian Do’s and Don’ts + healthy handouts; Digital Eye Screenings by the Lions Club; Eyeglass cleaning and Repair by Walmart; Financial Literacy Information; Food Safety Information from the Wayne Health Inspectors; Pharmacist Feedback; Prescription Drug Take Back by Passaic County Sheriff’s Office; and Resources and Information from Passaic County Senior Services, Disability, and Veterans Affairs. Know Your Numbers — April 17, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Wayne for All Ages Resource Center. The YMCA of Wayne and the Wayne Health Department will provide free blood pressure screenings, weight and body fat measurements, and exercise information.

Bi-Annual SMAC Blood Screening, including CHEM 23, Lipid Profile, CBC with Diff, and T4, is available for $27 on April 19, 2024, at the Wayne Health Department, 475 Valley Road, Wayne. Additional screenings are available for additional fees. Pre-registration for the blood screening is required by April 12. Call 973-694-1800, ext. 3281, for an appointment.

Healthy Meal Planning for Two — On April 23, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Wayne for All Ages Resource Center. Registered Dietitian Marissa Perrotta of Peaceable Nutrition & Wellness will share nutrition tips to help you on your health journey and provide simple meal ideas and recipes. Free Heart Healthy Bingo – Thursday, April 25, 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., facilitated by William Paterson Nursing Students, at the Wayne for All Ages Resource Center. Join us in having fun playing bingo while learning about heart health. Call 973-694-1800, ext. 3281, to reserve your spot.

Your Road Map to Good Health: How Diabetes Relates to Heart Disease – On April 30, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Resource Center. Registered Dietitian Dina Hulbert, from the Diabetes Center at Chilton Medical Center, will provide information and resources regarding diabetes and how it relates to heart disease. FREE Memory Café – April 9, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias Support Group at the Resource Center. The Memory Café is a community outreach program with Wayne Arden Courts ProMedica Memory Care. Light refreshments will be served. FREE Legal Services—Tuesdays, April 11 and May 7, 2024, at the Wayne Health Department, 475 Valley Road, Wayne. Northeast New Jersey Legal Services has teamed up with Wayne for All Ages to provide free legal services to residents 60 and older who meet financial eligibility and would like to take care of legal matters such as Wills, Powers of attorney, or Living Will Declarations. Call Wayne for All Ages office at 973-694-1800 ext. 3281. Appointments are limited, and pre-registration is required.
