Spring Night Court 2024

Surrogate Judge Zoila Cassanova, Esq. is pleased to announce our Night Court schedule for Spring 2024.

2024 High School Voter Registration Week

From April 14 through April 20, 2024, an increased statewide focus is directed towards ensuring high school students are aware of the importance of their voices being heard through their vote.

Fire Protection is provided by five volunteer fire companies:

Each fire company elects its own officers and maintains its own equipment and headquarters.  The five fire companies have a total of eleven pumpers, three aerial towers, one aerial ladder, one heavy duty rescue, one brush truck, two light duty squad trucks, a compliment of water rescue boats and two Special Emergency Response (S.E.R.T.) vehicles.  All vehicles are purchased and owned by the Township of Wayne. A home pager system operated by the Wayne Police Dept. communications bureau alerts the members of emergency calls.  This is backed up by mobile phone and internet alerts.

The Township Fire Commissioner is elected by the firefighters and appointed by the Mayor and council for a two year term. The Fire Commissioner is rotated through each company and is in charge of all fires, maintains contact with other fire departments and keeps abreast of new procedures and firefighting techniques The commissioner approves the appointment of new volunteers and serves as advisor and consultant to the township in matters of fire protection and prevention.

Fire fighters are trained by their own companies, but all new members must attend the Passaic County Fire Academy for fire training certification for N.J. state certified Firefighter I. There is no cost to the firefighters for this training. An applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 57 and pass a physical examination and criminal background check.

The township provides a fund of approximately $240,000 annually to be shared equally by the five fire companies to help defray expenses. It also provides funding for radio equipment, SCBA, and hose, ladder, and pump testing annually.

Any person interested in joining their local fire company can do so by contacting their local firehouse at the above websites, or fill out a membership application here.
